Iterative mockups of Blue Bunny Photo Booth in use

Blue Bunny Photo Booth

As users approach the display, a camera feed will break the attract loop and users can select one of several image overlays before capturing their photo. From there, they can forward it to an email address or phone number.

Besides making the experience a fun one, much consideration goes into public-facing interactive displays. I was made to consider users’ height in regards to physical accessibility, as well as making sure it was not heavily text-based for younger users.

soda jerk + custom sundaes

Users spend time flipping switches (in the form of soda fountains and ice cream topping lids) which will prompt either quips from an old-fashioned soda jerk, or a virtual sundae with the chosen toppings rendered in real time.

This project featured only binary switches and required no walkthrough, tutorials, or reading. The goal was to create an experience with virtually no barriers to entry. During early stages, I created a life-size cardboard cutout of the mirror to find the right height and proportions for the soda jerk videos. Fine-tuning was required as well given the two-way, backlit mirror as well as deliberation on how best to handle natural sunlight interfering with the experience.
